Noelle Update - One Month

Parenthood has been a rollercoaster so far, with good days where we think "We've got this!" to bad days where we look at each other in utter despair. We bought and watched "The Happiest Baby on the Block" after my cousin Nicole told me about it and after a few successful trials were convinced that we knew how to calm our child in record speed, only to find out that no, in fact it doesn't work every time. Sigh. Then I discovered that she loved listening to classical music, especially piano tunes. So we did that a few nights in a row with success. "Yes! I've found the cure!" Nope. Didn't work ever again. Sigh. She sleeps in the swing! Yes! Oh. She doesn't like that anymore. Sigh. She sleeps in the car seat! Yes! Oh. She doesn't like that anymore. Sigh. Seriously, we knew it was going to be hard caring for a baby, but we didn't know it was going to drive us completely mad, delusional and to the brink of desperation. But of course, we love the little booger to pieces. She is after all, a product of Joey and me, so no wonder why she's such a pain in the butt.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Noelle's health has improved concerning the jaundice, and her weight is gradually increasing. She is beginning to fill out and is already growing length wise - she has already outgrown some of her newborn clothes! We are ecstatic about her growing chubby cheeks, however we aren't too pleased with her vomiting. This little girl likes to throw up every chance she gets, all over everything. I don't think Joey and I have ever done so much laundry in our lives. For example, she threw up over our bed sheets and pillowcases so I threw those in the wash, but for what reason? She threw up over the bed sheets again the following morning. On a more serious note, we were worried about her seemingly excessive spitting up so after a phone call with a baby nurse mommy had to head out to buy new bottles and nipples. Little Noelle has some gas problems and tummy troubles resulting in vomit, vomit and more vomit.

"Daddy, don't put me down."

Feeding her in the bathroom after her bath, because Miss High Maintenance couldn't wait for her bottle.

Besides that, things are going well, even if they aren't easy. Joey and I are extremely happy and in love with Noelle and she is a thriving baby. I love staring at her all day and stroking her head as she sleeps and Joey loves coming home to her every night and carrying her around all evening. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their visit, adored her and showered her with overflowing love each day they were here. Noelle also had her first holiday, Thanksgiving with all her aunts, uncles and cousins on the Wagner side of the family. Everyone took turns carrying her around while she slept for majority of the holiday. Even with some piercing cries and screams, Noelle is overall a very happy, sweet baby and we look forward to her next month!
